New Developments at First Baptist Church DC
The First Baptist Church of the city of Washington, DC has some very exciting developments to announce!
On December 1, 2012, the parking lot on the corner of O and 17th Sts, NW will be taken over by the developer Keener-Squire for the construction of a new apartment building. A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the historic event for First Baptist is scheduled for 10:30am on Sunday, December 2, 2012. The ceremony will take place on location (the O and 17th Sts, NW parking lot). Attendees are invited to stay for worship immediately following. Please make plans to join us on this important occasion!
Because construction will begin on December 1, 2012, the church parking lot will be closed at the end of the day on Friday, November 30, 2012. Beginning with worship services on Sunday, December 2, 2012, all members and visitors should plan to park in the Airline Pilot's garage behind the parking lot.
If you have mobility challenges, valet parking will be available for you. Please enter the garage by the public alley between the Australian Embassy and the Airline Pilot's garage, accessible from Massachusetts Ave, NW. You will then be able to enter First Baptist from the temporary entrance adjacent to the valet drop-off in the alley-way.
All others should plan to park vehicles in the garage and exit via the walk-up ramp. Please enter the garage by the public alley between the O St. and Massachusetts Ave, NW, accessible from 17th St, NW. You will then be able to walk up the ramp to exit the garage and enter First Baptist from the temporary entrance adjacent to valet drop-off in the alley-way. Please note that 17th St, NW is one-way (in the direction of Massachusetts Ave, NW) and that O St, NW will be closed!
Parking Plan during Construction
The parking plan is available for download and is also on display in the Fellowship Hall.
